You need to have access to a netbsd system that's already working,
before you can build a netbsd system that runs on the tp750.
You apply the various patches to the netbsd kernel source on the
working system, build a new boot floppy, and use that boot floppy
to install netbsd on the thinkpad.
Both the kernel itself (/netbsd) and the floppy boot block have
to be patched before netbsd will run.
In this case, the message you are getting is from the boot block. Because
the thinkpad BIOS says there are 36 sectors per track, the boot block tries
to read that many sectors at a time. But because this is a 1.44 Mb disk,
there are only 18 sectors per track!
In the next few days I'll make a netbsd/tp750 boot floppy disk image
available for anonymous ftp.
