Just a note to anyone interested -- I finally got around to configuring my
IBM PCMCIA CC Ethernet adapter into Windows for Workgroups. It took some
effort, but it now works. Here's a few tidbits on what I had to do:
- don't use Easyplay - leave the ignore option set for ethernet in
easyplay
- get the new ethernet CC disk from the IBM BBS - it has the
OEMSETUP.INF file that is needed.
- be sure that you get your EMM386 excludes right and consistent with
your card services
- make sure that your protocol.ini and your system.ini files also
have the right adapter addresses in them.
As a side note, I'm also running the Daytona/Wolverine TCP/IP stack that is
available from the Microsoft FTP and BBS sites.
So far, everything is working OK. I'm now able to see and be a part of our
Windows NT domain on the network. The only problem is that I keep running
out of memory (I still have only 4 megabytes). I had to turn off smartdrive
to make it all work without hanging. I have a 16 mbyte card on the way to
resolve this problem. Living at 4 mbytes would not be acceptable for long
term use.

P.S. - while on the IBM BBS, I ran accross two announcements, one that the
current IBM Ethernet CC adapter is being discontinued, and the second is
the announcement of a new IBM Ethernet CC II adapter. Drop me a note if
