Hardware: Which way to go...

I'm looking for advice on upgrading my TP750. I need more storage
space...and would like a CD-ROM drive so I can find software again! At
any rate, I was going to just wait and buy a desktop pentium when the
prices dropped again, but now I'm not so sure. The new IBM PCMCIA SCSI
adapter had made me think about picking up an external 500mb drive and an
external 4x CD-ROM...all for about the same price of getting a 810MB
drive to my thinkpad.

Anyone have thoughts on my best choice of action here? I am of course
looking for maximum storage and power for my limited $.
