The screen on my new SVGA TP-755CX dims considerably
whenever I remove the AC power cord and it switches to
battery power. This happens even when the Li-ion battery
shows a 100% charge, and the computer is configured for
"High Performance" under battery power.
My questions:
- is this normal, or do I perhaps have a weak battery?
- if it is normal, then is there any way to circumvent
this dimming, even if it shortens battery life?
I don't know specifically about the 755CX, but on older models there
is a power-saving mode called "economy brightness mode" that is the
default. This mode can be changed using the PS2 program under DOS:
* PS2 BR N puts the machine in "normal" mode, in which the screen is
the same brightness whether using AC power or battery power.
* PS2 BR E puts the machine in "economy" mode, in which the screen is
dimmer when using battery power.
