I don't think dust and dirt are a big worry - most drives sit inside
dirty computer cases and collect dust. However, the drive is mounted
upside down, so the circuit board is facing up, risking scratches.

I had to trim holes in the case for the mounting posts, and it is still a
little snugger fit when I close the keyboard, but it works. I wouldn't
advise it though. You could probably take the entire top off if you
wanted to.... I'd avoid it unless you really have to.
