Has anyone found a 4x CD-ROM that will fit in a DOCK 1?

Fred,

I don't imagine you can easily, or cheaply, upgrade a 2X CD-ROM to a
4X. On the other hand, You can get a 4X SCSI CD-ROM for a little over
$200 that will install in your dock II (I think, it needs a 1/2 height
bay). I installed a Sony CSD-760S into by 1/2 Height Bay in my Dock II
with no problems.

Good luck.
