I seem to recall something about the cig lighter adapter running the computer,
but it won't charge the battery. I don't know whether thats because 12 volts
isn't enough or what. Anyhow if you want to jump in your car with a dead
battery
and have it charged when you get where you're going it sounds like the
inverter is a better solution. Plus it will also run your inkjet, external
hard drive or whatever.
