+ I suggest you try FreeBSD. I just helped a friend install FreeBSD

Actually, I think the 755cd is "different." SLS installed out of the box on
my 755cX. I am not sure which boot disk I used (color or mono), but I just
selected an IDE one and it worked. You may want to consider installing via a
friend's 755cx (or other IBM Thinkpad) system onto your removable hard disk.
