Do you really need the speaker output? You could give it a
voxectomy by jabbing through grill with a paperclip or a strightpin,
severing the cone from the magnet. That of course if you can't find
another way to get in there.
Or, you could try working in louder places. I've recently started
doing most of my coding on trains in the alps. (no louder than
crosscountry trains, but better view)
If you play constant music, say, does the static make it sound
like the speaker wires have an intermittently open connection? If
so, replace the wires (or unplug it).
