Meaning 3.1.2E does not work properly on the 760C?

Well, depends on what you mean by "properly"; see below. It seems as
though the patched 3.1.2D server is still the best one.

Do you have more info on this? (who and where?)

I've included the relevant message below.

Subject: XF86-3.1.2E released and tested!

I just downloaded the 3.1.2E release from ftp.xfree86.org and
installed the update, and the XF86_SVGA server.
Except for some fiddling with symbolic links (libX11.so.6, libXt.so.6
have to be removed first), the installation took about 5 minutes, and
when I restarted X everything worked with the old XF86Config file.

I have not tried the 16bpp mode yet. if any one of you is successful,
please let us all know.

In a few days I will remove the 3.1.2Dd server from lynx.ps.uci.edu.
If I come up with a better XF86Config file, I will let you know.

Regards,

Subject: Warning: new 3.1.2E server produces blank screen when exiting X.

Just tried to get out of X and got a black screen; none of the other virtual consoles produced anything visible.

However, I could restart the server from a telnet login (from my NeXT in the same room), I presume one can restart it by typing blindly startx.

This means that one should reboot or shut down from an Xterm. I reported this to XF86.

Alan, any comments?

Dear Friends,

Some of you might have lost hope, but their is good news ---

Mwave Support for Linux is coming.

Hannu Savolainen (The Author of the TASD (former Voxware) Sounddriver) is going to port the DSP-Loader and the sound interface for us.

What is still needed is people who would do the interfacing to the Modem,Fax,(ISDN?,Voice?) Services of the Mwave-System.Hopefully using the IBM-DSP code this should not be too difficult, as one should only reproduce the handling the Windows(OS/2, DOS)-drivers do. It would be very good to have some volunteers for this matter, before searching help from IBM (In fact the lack of a lead programmer made me hesitating in contacting IBM -- this problem is now gone !).

Also Linux-Friendly contact addresses from Hardware manufacturers (IBM,Miro) might be handy now.

This is List as it stands now, if you'd like to add/(remove) yourself or friends. Please drop me a note. If the project gets going I'll devote a web-page to it.
