Auto-hibernate

I can't remember if I saw this topic before, but here goes anyway. I
have set my bios to hibernate on low battery automatically, as I can
be somewhat forgetful at times. But I decided to test it to make sure
it works. the result was that once the battery was really low, it
started to go into hibernate mode, then came up with a message saying
not enough battery power to hibernate. What is the use of this? ANy
answers or similar experiences?
