I think your local distributor was dissembling here; this drive showed
up in at least one mail order catalogue - obviously prematurely, but the
appearance indicates that Syquest definitely planned retail manufacture.
Probably they couldn't get the cost/reliability/performance equation to
work to their satisfaction. Too bad, I would have bought one.
