Hi there,

IBM UK is sending me a refund check for my comatose 365X (see below) and I am
thinking of buying a 760E. Two questions:

Do the 760Es really get very hot?

Will the memory of the 365X work in a 760E?

My 365X story:

1 October. I buy a 365X. The right arrow on the keyboard sticks. I FedEx
the machine to IBM Service. The 365X gets nicked while on transport.
Insurance claims, refunds etc

20 October. I buy a new 365X. I add 16MB of Memory. The bloody 365X refuses to
suspend/hybernate. I send it to IBM service. Ooops, the 365X gets roasted while
in service. Yeap , I get a refund.

1 November. I buy a new 365X. Yes, after a FABULOUS continuous 4
day work, the 365x says, I have an error 714, get me bloody
serviced. I send it to the IBM service. New motherboard. New Hard
drive.

16 November. The serviceperson drops my 365X and breaks into peices
like watermelon. Yeap, they give me a new machine.

3 December. The Hard drive spins endlessly. Service/new hard drive.
etc The new hard drive starts getting a new bad sector every minute.
Then, I say to IBM UK, give up fixing the bloody thing ...
and they are giving me my money back

My first 365X was a P100 (which became obsolete in the process), the
rest P120's (yes I used the latest bios). All the hard drives were
810MB and they only failed when I filled them near to capacity
(~750MB). Although, I always had the same model, no two 365X's were
100% identical, the keyboards varied, the plastic used varied, the
adaptors varied, the under the keyboard cover varied, the batteries
varied, ... All drivers/bioses installed were old or very old.

Overall I liked the 365Xs but they showed a clear addition to IBM
service depots.

The IBM UK (Glasgow) Software support is/was/will be a complete
joke,,, Don't bother to call them.

Cheers
Costas
