Well, the final verdict on my mysterious 701C speedup seems to be that
my system was permanently in 'AUTO' position (instead of '75/25'),
despite my apparent BIOS setting to the contrary (as reported in the
Config screen). This conclusion follows from the Wintune 2.0 reports
poeple sent me: the AUTO results were similar to my pre-EZserve results,
the 75/25 similar to mine after EZ-serve. (Special thanks to rj_at_cais
for suggesting something like this.)
It is all moot anyway at this point, since my 701 is destined for the
scrap heap.
