apm on thinkpad 750/linux

Hello!!

        I am running linux 2.0.37 on an ibm thinkpad 750. The apm seems to work, but fails to recharge the battery once the system is on ac. Has anybody else experienced this problem (or does anybody running linux *not* have this problem? I should also mentio
n that I'm using apmd 2.4 that I compiled locally.
