"... Now, how can I claim a warranty for it and the services that come with it.
I received no warranty documents, but only a registration card. Was I
shafted as far as warranty is concerned or can I still claim it? ..."

i have always thrown out all the warranty paperwork whenever i get laptops.
your warranty isn't tied to the warranty card, it's tied to the serial number
on the laptop. all you need to claim a warranty is a store receipt that shows
the serial number. if you don't have a receipt, ibm will honor the warranty
>from the announcement date of the model you bought. for 701's this *should* be
3 years because i think all ibm's laptop announcements in the last few years
had 3 year warranties, but i could be wrong. i've never bought a 701. call
the helpcenter at 800.772.2227 and they should fix your mouse button. if you
need to resort to the product announcement for a warranty date, not all the
call takers have access to that information, so just tell them that their
"one-point-five" (support level 1.5) can look it up in "hone."
