It is basically IBM's proprietary DSP (digital signal processor) which relieves the processor by doing the sound
and modem itself. Unfortunatly, because it is proprietary, support isn't as good as with other chips, like the
ESS Audiodrive series, and neither the modem nor the sound are compatible with Linux, because IBM won't
release the source code.
