ESS Soundcard conflict with Real Audio

I have a Thinkpad 560, 120mz pentium, 16mb ram and cannot get Real Audio to
work
on the internet. It locks up with the built in sound card that IBM
provides with the
560. It produces a chattering noise and I have to reboot to get rid of it.
 Has any
one gotten Real Audio to work properly and have any suggestions? I have
Real Audio
working just fine with my Compaq desktop.
