Well, I've only seen two types of caddies for the 701 (the IBM one and a
plastic knock-off that's fairly similar), and there are a bunch out there.
it may be that the caddy/drive you looked at was harder to take apart.
However, on the ones I've seen, all you need to do is: 1. unscrew the
screws that hold it in the caddy, 2. gently pull the drive toward the
plug-in end so that the other end can lift up out of the caddy, and 3.
gently work the connector off the drive.

How difficult is it to swap out the drive? I've looked at
caddy/drive and it's not obvious (at least to me : -( ) how one goes
about taking out the old drive and putting in the new.
