Same problem here - the only solution I've found is to plug an SVGA
monitor in to the display port on the TP, switch to external display only,
then run the configurator and start X. Once X is up and running, you can
switch back to the LCD... however, I've never been able to get around
this, and if I want to start X without a monitor handy, I'm a bit stuck...
