Joystick adapter on 701c

Runnings Win95 on my 701c, the device manager tells me there is a joystick port installed (it seems to be integrated into the ES688(?) sound chip). The documentation makes no mention of the joystick anywhere and there is no connector on the port replicator either. Is this just a dead-end on the system board or can I somehow attach a joystick to this computer?
