        I noticed. Now the best one is selling for "only" ~$4999 from
        CompUSA direct. Not bad for CompUSA, too. But WAY out of my
        range, too. :(

According to the www.thinkpads.com home page, a new 770 with a 266 mhz
cpu and an 8 gb disk is about to come out. That might explain the
current price cuts. I wonder if they will come out with a bigger
screen too--some off-brand models with 15" screens are apparently
available now. I think that the mobile Pentium II is due out this
summer, and that should result in further price cuts for the current
Pentium-MMX models. I believe the lower-end 770's are now under $4000.
When they get to the $3000 level including CD, I'll start getting
interested. Perhaps that will happen in the next few months. Meanwhile,
my 755cx is getting pretty clunky, but still holding up.
