Since I just went thru this exact experience, I'll share it
with the group:
Yes, you can stick a 64 MB ram module on a 560, even a non-560E
or 560X. BUT, beware:
The long story:
I just bought a 560 (P133/12.1 TFT) that came with only 8 MB RAM.
I already have a 760XL with a 64 MB module (from the Chip Merchant).
Of course, I just had to try it in the 560 and VOILA - the 560 talks
to it and works with it fine.
So, I ordered another 64 MB module from the Chip Merchant, asking
for a 64 MB module. With the first module, the 560 wouldn't even
boot up. With the second module, the 560 did boot up, but constantly
crashed. So, I did the logical thing - swapped modules. Both
machines are now very happy. The additional memory really makes
a difference with Win95.
Moral: I'm not sure - the part numbers and the chip numbers
look the same, although I'm not a chip part number expert. The timing
is the same. But, there must be a difference between the SIMMs.
If anyone would care to translate, I'll email them the chip numbers.

ps: the 560 was bought thru surplusdirect. It was a refurbished
560, but the price was (and is) amazing: $1199 - $150 for the
order processing screw-up (on their part).
No, it doesn't seem like they have any more at that price now.
pps: I am not an employee of either Chip Merchant or Surplus Direct.
But I am a happy customer of both since both vendors were both
very willing to work with me to make sure I was a happy camper.

Can I run a 64mb ram module on my 560? According to IBM's website, 64mb only
works with the 560e and 560x. However, a number of vendors claim that you can
use 64mb in the 560.
