        Actually David, I had heard about this--and NEC is making a big deal about
this story too. :-)

        But for what its worth, in PC/Computing's torture tests, NEC's Versa (I
don't have a clue which model) was among the first to keel over after an
18-inch drop. :-(

        I guess I'll find out the hard way whether I can live with the touchpad or
not (maybe I'll get lucky and actually *like* it--or at least feel neutral
about it vs. the Trackpoint...)

        When's that 600 series ThinkPad coming out? Any more info about it?
