I see no real advantage in small, and I think that this is probably true
for a lot of people, which is why the 701 was a market failure, and IBM
had to sell off huge numbers of them in a fire sale. For most people there
are two needs

o really small, fitting in a pocket, the PDA market ...

o light notebooks, since no one likes to carry heavy things.

But I don't see size as an advantaqge. In fact my ideal notebook would
have a proper full size keybowrd with numeric pad and separate cursor
group, and a wide screen to go with it, perhaps something like 1800 x 768
pixels, but it would be nice it if would also only weigh 2-3 pounds :-)
