Something simple has turned out to be difficult. I inherited a
760ED at work from a person who retired. He had so much junk
on it that I couldn't uninstall along with a couple of corrupted
files, that I decided to reformat the hard drive. I also had some
nice new software to install as well. And the Windows CD ROM would not
allow me to reinstall since it noticed I already had Windows 95
installed.

Upon reformatting the hard drive, I found that I could NOT access the
CD rom even though I had the CD Rom utility diskette.

The fine people at IBM tech support said I needed to have them
"reimage" my system at a cost of $178. They said this happens a lot
if somebody reformats their drive.

What does "reimage" mean? Does anyone have a simpler answer?

I am going to download and install all the IBM thinkpad files in the morning
and maybe the installation of all 30 diskettes will help. But that is a
lot of work if there is a simple answer.
