I have recently acquired this machine, quite used (but quite legally, re: the
recent "lost password" thread), and I am missing the following: the floppy,
the floppy cable, battery, port replicator/dock, and RAM expansion DIMM. If
anyone can help me with any of these items, please respond. Also some
questions: Is there a way to flash the bios without the floppy? Will Win95
operate properly without the bios update? The ESS sound driver in Win95 locks
up the mouse, but there does not seem to be a resource conflict. Everything
else seems to work okay with the ESS driver removed. Any ideas? Will this be
resolved with the bios update? Opinions on 24 meg vs. 40 meg for Win95? I
have acquired a second 701C chassis for parts, so I would be willing to
sell/trade what I have, being: both system boards, and an undamaged active
screen. I don't know if these parts are operational or not, at this point.
If someone out there has a good keyboard & hard drive, we may have a good
machine between us. -Last note: I have a Zeos external floppy with the same
style connector as I've seen on the IBM drives. Does anyone know if this will
work on the 701 with the correct cable? Thank you for all responses. DP
