I recently switched from a (former) top-of-the-line 770 to a
top-of-the-line 600. I don't know why someone would buy a 770 instead
of a 600 other than the reasons cited below. The 600 seems to pack in
almost everything the 770 does, but in a much smaller package. To put
it in perspective, the 600 with display down is a fair bit slimmer than
the 770 with the display up (i.e., than the keyboard and down).
OK, things the 770 can do that the 600 cannot:
* take a 2nd hard disk in the ultrabay
* take a 2nd battery in the ultrabay
* take a ZIP drive in the ultrabay
* play DVD movies and video in/out (with the video board)
* 770 can take larger hard disks (8GB) than the 600 (4GB, soon to be
6.4GB)
* 770 has 14.1" TFT vs. 13.3" TFT on 600 (not noticeable difference
to me)
Some of these may come to the 600 eventually, but I doubt a 2nd battery
is possible since it doesn't seem to have the right kind of connector
inside the bay.
I am glad I switched from a 770 to a 600. The 770 is a great machine,
but the 600 is better, IMHO.
