No, except to experiment with increasing files and memory
settings. When these actions had no effect, I restored what I
already had. These settings are the same as on my desktop which
is a slower CPA yet does not show the sluggish symptoms.

Not that I can determine or am aware of.

No, I am running the same programs. Additionally the programs
that I am running on my Thinkpad are the same (albeit *fewer*)
than what is running on the desktop. The desktop is not sluggish
in opening Winword files.
I will test for viruses today, although there are no telltale
signs of the Word Macro virus, whatever they call it.
