Another option that may be worth considering is a company called
Man-Machine. They specialize in LCD screen repair/replacement/upgrades.
If your LCD is possibly bad, they say they can fix it for a maximum of
$299. They also claim they can increase the brightness and minimize
reflections on any LCD display with some type of 'film' that they apply.
I'm not affiliated with them, but it looks as if they could help you at
a much reduced cost. Here is the URL:
