There is also a Xircom 56K at www.onsale.com/computers.htm
comes with no manuals but info available on line... runs
for $64 to $94 depending on the bid day... I got mine for
$69 and it runs fine... has connections for cell phone and
Internet as well... installed easily... They also periodically
have the Megahertz XJ4288 and XJ3288 which are 28.8 upgradable
to 33.6 for about $25... I don't see much difference between
them and the 56 K most of the time... and they come with
complete manuals and registration... they are refurbished
by 3Com and come in the original box... www.egghead.com and
www.surplusdirect.com also have some decent ones for time
to time for $45 to $75... I got a great Zoom dual modem
v.90/ 56K that works on both MacIntosh and Thinkpad... it is
my favorite modem...
