The real advantage with MWave is sound. Since i play the guitar and such I have tried to use the computer
for some musical recording, using it as a scetchpad, similar to the way you would use a four channel tape recorder
for trying out ideas etc. On an earlier TP i had a PCMCIA sound card but it was nothing compared to the MWave on my
TP755. You could have up to 7 voices recorded and running in a loop while recording the eight voice.
(Like one drum beat, one base melody and some saxophone filling étc., pretty cool for improvising lead guitar to) On a normal sound card (especially in laptops) you don't even get one voice duplex sometimes. This means you can't listen to a recorded song and say record the lead guitar. This is really the most minimal requirement for music work. You must be able to hear what you just recorded. The bult in chorus and echo could someties be useful too, but not so often since they
where not like anything you can get with some of the music programs.(with looong processing time though)
But if your not into sound and music you could live without the MWave. Personaly I never had any problems with my MWave modem, I think it depends on your contries phone system if it agrees well with MWave or not.
The greatest problem with the bult in gadgets in laptops is uppgrading when the technology evolves. I now have a TP760EL without MWave. I'm considering getting a 56K PCMCIA modem, perhaps with network card
For my music experimenting I may get a used four channel tape recorder instead. There is no wait time or processing time : - )
