I'm about to purchase a new laptop to replace a 3-year-old non-IBM
laptop that no longer meets my needs. Since I require a system that
can run NT 4 Workstation and OS/2 Warp 4 (probably via System Commander),
I'm leaning towards getting an IBM Think pad. After all, only IBM is
willing to support both NT and OS/2.

The model under consideration is the Think pad 380Z (P-II/300, 96MB, 4GB HD
13.3" TFT, etc). Does anybody have any comments on this model running either
NT or OS/2? Any comments, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated.

My second question is more subjective. The best price I can find locally is
$3200 (plus the 64MB upgrade). The best price I can find on the net is $3057
(plus the 64MB upgrade). The other difference is that if I buy it locally,
I'll end up paying 8.25% sales tax on the system (about another $275).
However, if I purchase via the net, I pay about $10 for shipping and $0 for
sales tax. The question is: Is it worth $425 MORE ($150 difference + $275
sales tax) to purchase it locally and have local support vs saving the money
and having to deal with a "mail order" vendor in another state? Again, any
comments would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
