hi all,
I guess my TP 701 is getting old. There are a couple of things that have evolved:
1) Sound. I seem to remember the sound coming out of the Butterfly being
pretty decent when I first got it. I was playing .wav's to people standing in the
office. Now, I can hardly hear it myself. It also seems much more tinny and
scratchy. And I can't hear anything in our somewhat loud lab, it wasn't quite
that bad in the beginning.
Any pointers?
2) Battery. I sort of knew that my batteries were run down, but today I tested it
to the end. A fully charged battery (2:00h), and a long .mpg video cycling
forever and running off the hard drive. The problem begins as soon as I unplug
the 'pad: it tells me that I need to suspend or plug in, the battery meter shows
empty, (0:00h). When I ignored that and the W95 message to the same topic,
it ran and ran and ran, for much over an hour, and it died while I was at lunch.
Funny thing is that Fn-F1 said that the battery was empty but it was charging,
even though it was not plugged in! Also, even though my settings were on
Custom, with no screen timeout, the screen turned off after one minute.
So, I'm glad that the battery is ok enough to get an hour and a half of life, but
the forced screen-timeout is annouying and of course there is no telling when
the system actually dies.
Does this behavior have anything to do with the Toshiba MAV2104 (or similar)
that I put in? I heard it uses more power, could that confuse the whole power
settings?
3) Docking Station (Bar). The little hook on the left side (the movable one)
is almost broken off. Does Easy Serve replace/repair that? Also, my screen-
latch on the left doesn't work well anymore, so that suspend wakes up as
soon as I move the 'pad. Oh, and the left mouse button is becoming very
squishy...
any comments welcome,
axel
