If you, ahem, read the manual, you'll see that the IR port is cleverly
secreted *beneath* the on/off switch (which is made of IR-transparent plastic).

Under W95, once it is (a) be enabled in 'features' and (b) shows as working properly in device manager, then you also have to
install the W95 IR driver (*not* preinstalled in W95). Dunno about W98. Once installed, you can get more advice from the IRMON
applet help/troubleshooting menu.
