caveat about minor cosmetic damage

Following on the thread about receiving damaged merchandise...

I once bought a Tektronix dye-sub printer (back when they cost >$15K). It
arrived with some barely noticeable cosmetic flaws, not something you
would normally fuss over. Nevertheless, I made an inquiry, and the serial
number revealed that it had been used as a demo machine. I had it
replaced.

I hate to be paranoid, but you have to wonder why any new shrink-wrapped
machine should have scratches, broken doors, bent pins, etc.
