I read another post on the laptop newsgroup later on that might explain what
has happened. Someone else called IBM inquiring about this. They were told
that the 1400 series production run had completely sold out since its
introduction. So, IBM decided (this is what was posted) that instead of
producing more of the same model they would start production of a newer 1400
model with updated features to keep them competitive.

This kinda makes sense to me. I didn't think it would be a reliability
problem or we would have heard something by now.

Oops-it was a combination of brain fade and typing error! Yes, 40MB is what
I have also!

BTW-I put in a hold order for a 770ED with CDW yesterday. My account rep
said they had 111 in stock and had sold 27 as of 2 p.m. CDT.
