Well, I have a 560X (233mmx, with 96 megs) so the battery life
should be similar or slightly better on mine. I've timed it on several
occasions with a new battery (manufactured this september) and with full
speed (all power conservation disabled) and running scandisk nonstop, I
get 1:45 to 1:50 all the time. Without scandisk but playing mp3's
nonstop I also get 1:45. The backlight doesn't appear to impact battery
life - different settings still get me 1:45. With CPU at half speed I
get approx 3 hrs running Word 95.
You're supposed to run the battery down once a week or so. For me I
just run it until hibernation kicks in, then I plug it in again. For you
to get just 1 hour is bad - maybe your battery needs replacement. I had
a defective battery shipped with my unit - it cut off power
unexpectedly. EZ serve replaced it overnight. I hope your system is
still under warranty :-) remember that many credit cards also provide an
additional year of warranty so you may still be covered anyway.
