I have the 770ED with win95. I would like to upgrade to win98. What IBM
upgrade disk did you use and where did you get it? Were there any problems
in upgrading?
Thanks,
Donald Mak

Donald,
I got my TP 600 in July. IBM had a deal (with Microsoft) where you could
upgrade to Win98 for a reduced price ($30). I figured at that price, why
not? IBM went to the trouble of producing a CD that took you through the
process of upgrading (ie, removing drivers, then installing new, 98, ones)
step by step. It came with the Win98 upgrade CD. The disk not only worked
for the 600 but for the 770 as well: it's loaded with drivers.
I used this disk when I loaded Win98 (clean install) to the 770ED: it was a
little tricky (I didn't have any Win95 drivers to uninstall), but it sure
sped up the process of making Win 98 a happening entity.
Regardless, upgrade to 98, it's Win95 with several thousand bug fixes,
native DVD and USB support, and its ALMOST Y2K ready!
Happy Holidays
Neil
