This is the very reason I purchased a few SB770's. They are great
for quickly docking. The only thing lacking (which is added if you
purchase anyone of the numerous docks/options), are PCMCIA slots.
You also need an extra AC Adapter to power it. It is the standard
56w unit that comes with your 770 series notebook.

I use a seperate keyboard, but I have typed on the unit on the dock
numerous times. Because of the embedded palm rest in the 770 series, it
is easily tolerable, and the level is ~.75 from the ground. This is
where the unit slides into the doc. The back part is 2.0" inches in
height.

Yep. Unit has independent PS/2 mouse and keyboard connectors.

I am a big fan of LapLink95, but my co consultants use DCC with no
problems when needed. Of course we're all networked, so our 100mbps
connects far surpass the 115kpbs (sans compression) of our comports. :)
