Has anyone else had trouble with reading standard cdroms in the DVD drive? I first had a problem with the demo CD that came with PCGamer. Ok, I wrote that off as a cheap cd job on the part of the magazine. But just tried all the cd's that came in the Sierra's Quest Series Vol One. Includes recent KingsQuest, SpaceQuest, PoliceQuest games. The dvd drive just keeps trying to access the drive without ever succeeding. I eventually CAD and EndTask. Other CDs load ok (MS Office 97).
I had to switch to Win95 because of no drivers/apps for spider wireless modem and GPS receivers. But I get lockup's all the time with Win95 and everytime it does ScanDisk on recovery from a lockup, a few more hundred KB are corrupted. I used to reboot OS/2 maybe once a week or sometimes once a month (with no disk corruption) ... now I am forced to reboot at least daily with Win95... very annoying. I was hoping I'd at least get to load a few games with Win95 since thats not OS/2's strong suit but haven't had much luck to date. Hope someone has some suggestions.
Machine is 770E with DVD & Mpeg2 card with Win95.
