Anyone besides me having great difficulty getting CDs created by Adaptec's
DirectCD to be read in Thinkpads? Mine's a 1720i, and it really doesn't
like home-burned CDs. It's very slow to recognize commercial disks, as
well. Not good for much but installing software, which is ok, but since I
back up software onto homemade CDs, the trouble reading packet-written media
is an issue. Simply won't read some files, and takes a very long time to
pick up others.

I know not all drives can handle these disks, but this machine is only a
month old, and I thought all (most?) new drives could deal with them. My
workaround is to use a network CD drive, but that's not an option on the
road ... Not really a reason to consider it defective, just an annoying
shortcoming.
