I doubt it. I upgraded to the LATEST release (if you're at the most current, then you don't
need the upgrade) on both the 701 and the 750. The 701 works great with 1.4GB, the 750
has 2.1GB (it's the file server).

Yup. What kind of drive do you want to use with your desktop?
You might have to jumper some pins, depending on the drive.
