You may find NT just a touch slower than 98. The simple solution is
to add more memory... 64mb of RAM and NT4 on a Thinkpad 600E is barely
tolerable at times (98 is extremely fast).

NT tends to run cooler than 98... if you have enough memory, and can
cut down on the disk swapping, you'll find that NT workstation may add
15-30 minutes to your battery life.
