You need to revert back to an older (1.80?) version of the audio driver
(1.92 is current, I believe, and it's broken) to get your modem audio
back...

The SRS works OK if you set it to almost maximum "center" and play with the
"space" setting. Note that these settings are in the little SRS systray
icon (CWB3dSnd.exe)-- you can't control it very well with the volume control
mixer itself...
