Hi,
I just installed the latest upgrade to the modem. I see no improvement at
home but at the University I see 40Kpbs.
Would getting another modem improve transmission rates? In other words,
are other modems less sensitive to noise (giving higher connect speeds)?
If so, which ones give the best connection rates?
Or, is it most likely limited by the phone line? I need to get an Ethernet
card so I am thinking about getting a combined Lan + Modem card.
How can I test the phone line?
Finally, what about ASDL or Cable Modems? What hardware is needed for
this (portability is a concern)?
