The welcome message from this list encourage new members to introduce themselves, soooo...
Hello, my name is Peter Fjerbaek, I'm 30 and from Copenhagen, Denmark (which, if any of you don't know, is a small country in Scandinavia, home of the amusement park Tivoli, LEGO toys, Helena Christensen, Bang&Olufsen, a soccer team which wins when nobody excpect them to and loses the rest of the time - and a few other people and businesses too).
Currently, I own and use two TP365X's (P120&133, 24MB RAM, 810MB HDD, FDD, DSTN&TFT) and a 755CV (486/100,24MB RAM,810MB HDD,FDD and a lovely overhead TFT) as well as an assortment of docking stations and replicators. Apart from that, I have a defective 365XD (P100,16MB RAM,810MB HDD, 6xCDROM and TFT) and a 360C (486/33, 16MB RAM, 170MB HDD and TFT when it works)
I don't think I'd call myself an expert on any of these TP's, however I have been tearing them apart and putting them together again with no damage done so far :-)
I'll probably be asking a lot of questions in the next few days, beginning with these:
- the first list mails seems to be about memory on the "old" Pentiums. I'm in the process of ordering more RAM for the 365X's. With 8MB on the motherboard, should I avoid the 64MB SODIMM if I'm running Win95? The twist with the 365X is, that is does not have L2 cache AFAIK. Some people say this means no barriers and some say is means that 32MB is the cache limit. I'm somewhat confused about this, and would like some response.
- I have a problem with the TFT on the defective 365X. The screen looks like the backlighting is way too intensive and the picture is in negative (or something that looks like negative) Is it definately broken, or could it be a wire error?
- why the h... can't I get the 6X CDROM (FRU82H8160) from a 365XD to work in a 365X - it's supposed to be exactly the same machine?
Thank you for your patience...
Peter
