For those who are interested...
I got Dragon Naturally Speaking running on my i1410, although I probably
spent $30 more than I had to. I just assumed that I would need the
microphone adapter or battery box to get it to work, and I didn't want
to go through all the general training just to find out my microphone
wasn't working well enough - so I bought the battery box and went
through the training with it. Works really well, and it is as accurate
as can be expected without much specific vocabulary training yet. But
when I tried the microphone without the battery box, it seemed to work
just as well. So I guess the i series may not need the extra boost for
microphone power. Maybe my next post to this list will be "FS: APS-100
battery box"....
I am quite happy with it, considering that Dragon doesn't list either my
soundcard (Yamaha OPL3-SAx) or the i1410 itself as officially compatible
with Dragon software. And, I'm running it on 32 meg of RAM, although
the Corel/Dragon software box recommends at least 48. It is quite slow,
however - it took about twice as long to do the general training as it
was supposed to - so I am going to buy another 32 meg. Overall, I am
pretty pleased with this software and the way it runs so far.
