http://reality.sgi.com/mende/linuxTP701/ claims:

Kernel claims that there is a ESS ES1688 AudioDrive (rev 6) and a
Yamaha OPL3 FM in the box. According to slepnir_at_netcom.com the chip is
a ESS688 which is the same as the ESS1688 but without the hardware
midi support.
