okok..
you can reset the machine serial number in the ez setup..
i read it but (really) i don't recall exactly how..
when i read it i tried it and it does work..
you don't need the CE diskette, aka Hardware maintenance thingie...

look on the IBM web site, in the hardwarer manuals there..
this feature is available but obviously is not widely advertised..
